Geert Grote founded the Sisters and Brothers of the Common Life, a lay movement that sowed seeds for the Reformation and possibly preserved the Netherlands from economic collapse! They founded hundreds of schools that taught the likes of Thomas a Kempis, Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Erasmus of Rotterdam.
